Beard Balm Verses Beard Oil What do you choose?

Today we are discussing the difference between beard Balm and Beard Oil .

Beard balm is a styling and shaping aid as well as a leave in beard conditioner. A good beard balm should moisturize your facial hair, provide hold for styling and make your beard look thicker. ... In addition to all natural sealants, make sure your beard balm contains all natural moisturizers like jojoba or argan oil

There are multiple manufacturers out there that promise miracle styling and growth and  report different purposes and results. But when two beard grooming products have the same effect on hair, customers stumble when knowing which product to pick.

We've  conitnued to have a slew of customers asking about the difference between Beard Oil  and Beard Balm.Since the oil and the balm both moisturize your beard, which product works best for you?

Although the answer to this question is based on your own personal grooming preference, there are some aspects of both that need to be considered. For example, what kind of beard you're rocking (is it a long beard that requires lots of product, or is groomed close and trimmy for a specific work environment?). Another factor to take into consideration is your skin type, ( Oily / Dry/ Inbetween)You wouldn't want to layer multiple oil based products on Oily skin. Or Do you like your beard to have a shiny appearance, or do you prefer a matte finish? Do you work in food and hospitality, at an office, or outdoors? All of these Variables can weigh in on your beard Regimen and choice of balm, Oil Or both!

If you finish reading this post and still can't make up your mind, we recommend purchasing both (you can never have too many options when it comes to caring for your beard). And if its not for you do share with friends.

1.Beard Oil

This is the top tier grooming accessory for the modern beardsman. This product is typically recommended for all beards, but especially in early stages of beard growth. Its moisturizing factors help treat beard dandruff and flaking, and also calm down the itchy phase of newer and younger beards.

Beard oil is an oil-based light moisturizer that can be applied throughout your entire beard quickly and effortlessly. Its liquid form also means it's more effective in hydrating the skin through shorter or trimmed beards as opposed to their larger counterparts.

Beard oil absorbs into the skin and hair more quickly than balm. As a result, your beard will have a matte finish appearance, rather than glossy or shiny. Beardsmen with longer beards should use a Boar bristle brush or Beard comb to distribute the oil evenly through the entire beard. While their appearance is subtle, our Beard oils will provide you  with a silky smooth beard without the gunky texture you might get from commercial conditioners

Scrubtious Inc Tip: The microscopic scales on a Boars Hair Brush clean your beard and distribute beard oil at the same time.

Beard Balm

Beard balm is a great product for men sporting a medium to large sized beard, but also a solid choice if your skin is dryer than most. The beard balm was designed to have a higher viscosity than the oil - meaning it's thicker in texture and takes longer to absorb. Where beard oil comes in a bottle of liquid, beard balm is closer in texture to pomade.

The balm actually sits on your beard and skin longer than the oil does before absorbing, which gives you more nourishing and longer-lasting moisture. This is also what gives your beard some extra shine while keeping it healthy.

The thickness of beard balm is also functional - Due to the Beeswax and shea butter it has just enough hold to comb down stubborn beard hairs and fly-aways that go against your beard's shape and grooming goals. It can also be used as a low-hold styling agent for your mustache and sideburns for a bit more finish around the edges.

One more thing sets Scrubtious beard balm apart from its oil-based cousin: versatility. Beard oil is fantastic for keeping the skin under your beard and your beard healthy, but beard balm was designed to use as a skin moisturizer, too. So hit those elbows up son!

Pro Tip: If you travel a lot, you may want to go for utility balm. It comes in a TSA-Friendly 2.4 ounce size tin, so you'll only need one product for both beard and body.

If you're wondering whether you can apply both the oil and the balm to your beard at the same time, the answer is yes, but with a little discretion :

Be conservative when you're using both products. While using both in appropriate amounts can really level up your beard game, it's also easy to overdo it. We aren't looking for the Lionel Richie JuryCurl throwback when you start sweating. Remember these are oil based so Balm, +  Oil + Man Sweat = Lionels twin....Start with just a little bit of product, and slowly work your way up to what you need.

Pro Tip:If you want a glossier finish while using both products, apply beard oil first, then Beard balm.
